In Houston we can enjoy a meal on the patio maybe 10 times per year, so why not have a patio set! We shopped around the usual stores and found stuff that was "ok" for the price, and then we found stuff that we really liked (with an outrageous price tag of course). We found many copy-cat plans for tables from Pottery Barn and Pier 1 online, so I decided to choose one to take on my first furniture build.
I chose a plan similar to this table from Pottery Barn, which is now discontinued. At the time, this table was listed for around $1,200. Add another $1,600 for 6 chairs and we are at almost $3,000 for a manufactured patio set! Well, I built the table for less than $100! I followed these plans and did relatively well for building something like this for the first time. Of course I ran into issues along the way and had to make a few "custom modifications" (ok....I messed up a few times), but I am very happy with the finished product!
We chose to do a two-tone finish with the base painted with a cream color and the top stained with kona color. Wait until you see the matching benches that will go with the table!
